Last Bronx tournament of 2016 (10/2) and other news

From: James Murphy

All,The next Club event will be held next Sunday October 2 at Pelham Bay with first tee time at 7:42. If you are going to play, please sign up early as the management there is strict about deadlines and no-shows.

After much back and forth, a firm date has been set to play the match against the Links Golf Club on Sunday October 9th at the Links, the time TBD. Captain Marty Moss will be in touch as he puts together the team.

Congrats to the winner of last Saturday’s tournament Gerry Sherry, who posted a score that I can’t mention because it was obscene. Suffice it to say he could have played another 3 holes and likely still won the event. Second and third place went to Damien Sweeney and Tony Dunleavy, respectively.

Again, please email or text me your intent to play by next Wednesday night….have a healthy weekend, Jim

Ryder Cup

From: Martin Moss

All,

We would like some feedback about the Woodlawn club having its own Ryder cup competition. Now that summer is gone and fall is just around the corner we can get a day to have the Woodlawn Ryder Cup. This is just an email to get some ideas from everyone. You can respond to
mossmartin931189
don’t be afraid.
The general consensus is that we could have it some afternoon during the week at Pelham or Split rock. At least of the guys want to have a drink they don’t have to worry as much about getting pulled over. It’s a short distance and you can even get a cab home for most of us.

Please give us some feedback.

On another note. A few of the guys are going to Ocean city from October 18th to the 21st. 4 rounds of golf on great courses. Hotel with Breakfast each morning. Gerry Murphy and Andy Pile will provide the entertainment. All that for $380. The guys are going to drive down. They need to know by October 2nd.

Founders/Links Cup

From: martin moss
All,

Once again another update.

I have reached out to The Links and I can’t seem to get anyone that’s running their team!! So I have spoken to Pat Sullivan at The links to see what dates The Links had free. the only dates free are the 8th or 9th of October. I have sent them dates to The Links President and hopefully we can get this played.

If I hear anything more I will let you know straight away.

Founders/Links Cup 9/25

From: martin moss

Founders/Links cup,

The Founders Cup is going to be played on Sunday the 25th of September. Tee times will start around 11-30 I think. Seems to be a lack of communication or everything’s a big secret!!

If anyone cant make it please text me at mmoss (I’m having problems with my AOL email) otherwise I will take it that you can play next Sunday.

Sorry about the short notice and the limited information.

Results from last Sunday (9/4) and sign-up for Saturday Sept 17 @ 11:30 at Links

From: James Murphy

We were again fortunate last Sunday as we dodged the predicted tropical storm conditions. It was a delightfully sunny day at Split Rock. The tournament results:

1st Donal Maher 2nd Bill Marshall CTP 16 Dominic Mulligan

The next outing will be next Saturday at the Links. If you are playing, please let me know by Thursday afternoon….thanks and have a good week

To the “magnificent 15′ who are playing tomorrow (9/4)

From: James Murphy

For those who are signed up to play tomorrow, we will have four groups starting at 7:33, I hope everyone is at the course by 7:15, it will not be a long wait as our last group tees off at 7:57. The forecast now has rain holding off until after 1 pm, though it is forecast to be quite breezy, with gusts in the early afternoon reaching 40 mph. Hopefully the forecast holds and we will be dry and miss the heaviest winds. If anyone has an extra satchel of sand ( and we know a few guys have some sand-bagging experience :), please bring one for Damien to tie on his ankles. The last time we played in heavy wind in Connemara, Damien almost flew back to NY without an airplane.
For those of you watching the All-Ireland Hurling Final tomorrow, whether on closed-circuit or in Croke Park, enjoy!!
For the first group, please remember to take a CTP marker for the 16th Hole. That will be the only ‘skill prize’ tomorrow with the light crowd……JM

Sunday’s tournament

From: James Murphy

As the numbers now stand, we need at least one more player to make it an "official" tournament. if you sign up between now and Noon, added bonus: you will go out in the first group! Plus, your odds of winning are better than ever. C’mon out, play golf, and save yourself the broken heart of watching another Hurling Final…….JM

last reminder to sign up for Sunday 7:33 @ Split Rock

From: James Murphy

Hello all,I know it’s Labor Day weekend, I know many Irish guys will be absorbed in closed-circuit telecast of the Hurling Final, but we do have a tournament scheduled, many matches to play, and the weather forecast is very good for the weekend. Deadline to sign up is 2 pm Thursday afternoon. Also, please let us know if you will be available to play in the Semifinal of the Links Founder’s Cup on Sunday Sept 11 at the Links…..Jim
