It took three rounds so a big congratulations to Joe Brown and Donal Maher for their win over Dominick Mulligan and Frank Finnegan in the Partner’s Championship.
Woodlawn Award Dance Nov 14th @ 8:00 PM
Another reminder that the award dinner/dance will be held on Friday, November 14th at the Manhattan Club atop Rosie O’Grady’s (52nd and 7th Ave). That is a Friday night and the doors open at 8:00 PM. Members of the club go free as part of their membership dues. The price for guests is $100. It is always a great evening and we really need people to come and bring a guest or two if you can, perhaps even some potential members. Please call Tom O’Meara, 718-585-8737 or his cell 917-299-2249, to let him know you are coming or if you have any questions.
Opening for Myrtle Beach Trip
From Stephen Carey:
Unfortunately Pat Whelan will not be able to go to Myrtle Beach next week due to an untimely death in Ireland. Our best wishes are with Pat. If anyone is interested in filling Pat’s spot on the trip contact Gerry Murphy or Stephen Carey.
Saturday November 1 10am@Links
On Saturday, Woodlawn will hold its final event of the year. Coincident with the Woodlawn Partners best-ball, we will play a 16 man interclub match against Crown City to determine the winner of the 2014 Links Founders Cup competition.
As there has been uncertainty on how this tournament will be conducted because of the match, I would urge everyone attending to get to the Links well ahead of time. The organizers of the day are Tom Bennett and Damien Sweeney.
A
ny questions should be directed to them as I will not be playing on Saturday. Anticipate that you may not be paired with your partner, and there will be a lot of scorecards to be sorted out at the end of play. I ask that you make an extra effort to keep a neat, legible scorecard. The standard of recording scores has fallen to a new low this year. There are many inaccurate, incomplete, illegible and unsigned cards submitted each tournament, and that has to change!
As of 6 PM Thursday, the following have either informed Tom Bennett or me that they are playing:
D Curtin
M Curtin
Elias
Sweeney
Moss
P O’Meara
Scales and 2 guests
Maher
Lafferty
Breen
Brosnan
K O’Sullivan
Andrasick
Flynn
Talbot
T O’Meara
Marshall
Bennett
Browne
McCrimlisk
Stapleton
If you signed up and somehow are not on this list get back to me. Or if you haven’t signed up and might want to play, you have until 11 AM Friday morning to get back to me.

Player of the Year – Marty Moss
Congratulations to Marty for capping off a tremendous year by winning Player of the Year for the Woodlawn Golf Club. Marty won two tournaments, was runner-up in the Club Championship, and won the Handicap Championship. He got additional points for a second place and a couple of 6th place finishes.
Handicap Champion – Marty Moss
Congratulations to Marty Moss for overcoming Pat Costigan to win his second Handicap Championship
2014 Club Champion – Bob Andrasick
Congratulations to Bob Andrasick on winning his (I believe unprecedented) fourth straight Club Championship, beating Marty Moss in the 36 hole Final. The full bracket can be found on the Championships Page.
