May 31st Results

From: Jim Murphy

We were fortunate with the weather last Sunday, and Pelham Bay was in very good shape too….. There were some issues with Stableford score-keeping, and there were even a few players who did not know that we were using Stableford even after being given cards with just two names on them for ease in keeping running point totals. The FINAL results of the day were as follows, after a discrepancy in point totals was discovered:

1st Bob Andrasick 37

2nd Steve McCrimkisk 37

3rd Bill Marshall 36

4th John Gallen 36

5th Jim Murphy 35

6th Gerry Noone 35

In handicap matches played : Bell over D Curtin G Murphy over Scales McCourt over Browne

In CC flight Andrasick over Gilland

Signup for next tournament on 7/31 at Pelham Bay

From Jim Murphy:

The next tournament will be next ****Sunday May 31 at 7:16 AM**** at Pelham Bay . I need to know by no later than Thursday night at 11 pm if you are playing. Pelham/SR wants our numbers 48 hours prior to tee off and they are firm about committments. So if you know you are going to play , reply sooner rather than later. Also, seedings and match-ups should be available on the Woodlawngolfclub.com website. It is your responsibility to set up your match. I set up the tournaments but will no longer make the match-ups. The higher seed should reach out to his opponent and arrange a date to play the match. You can then tell me when confirming your intent to play that you have arranged a match and I will place you in a fourball with your opponent.

Club Championship, “B” Scratch, and Handicap Draw Posted

The draw for the individual championships has been made and posted on the Championships page. Please check to see if you qualified and who your opponent will be in the first round.

As a reminder, the first round of the Handicap must be played by the end of June. The first round of the Club and B championships, and the second round of the Handicap championships must be played by the end of July.

It is both players responsibility to contact each other and arrange for the match to be played, even on tournament days. DO NOT assume that your opponent will show up to a tournament and the Greens chairmen will put you together. Matches can be played on any day at any course agreeable to both participants. Make sure you play them by the deadlines or you risk being thrown out of the championship.

Sunday 11 AM at Links

From Jim Murphy:

Gents,At this time we have reached 40 players Sunday morning. I will send out pairings later today. A few reminders:

If you haven’t payed your $200 annual dues, please bring a check and give to Pat Lafferty. If not paid up by this tournament, you will be ineligible for prizes until you are paid in.

We have used this partners event as not only a qualifier for the Woodlawn Partners best ball ( low 8 teams will qualify), but as a qualifier for the MGA best ball tournament. Last year, Donal Maher and Joe Browne represented the Club. In order to participate, we must pay an entrance fee to the MGA. So in order to participate, each team must submit $20 (for those struggling with math, that is $10 per man). So this week, I will be collecting $ 20 per man at my post. The MGA event is a well-run day, played at a fine course. Anyone who has been lucky enough to qualify for it has enjoyed the experience.

There will be prizes awarded to the winning partners team, and to the individual winners, as this is also an individual stroke play event.

Finally, Damien has requested a meeting for 9:45 to discuss the tournament tees that Woodlawn will play. No matter what other clubs decide, we will be playing the blue tees at the Links. Each player will play off his handicap, which is enhanced by two shots as per USGA rule 3.5…..see you all Sunday, Jimmy
